On Friday afternoon, Mayor Nickels and police officials met with bar owners and briefed them on the progress of the investigation and steps the city is taking to protect bar and club patrons and staff. Seattle police, with cooperation from the FBI, are actively investigating the mailed threats. Today, the Cuff is a bad dance club that looks like a leather bar. The new owners don't seem to be interested or understand what the Cuff's brand was and the importance of this space in Seattle. Unfortunately it was sold in the summer of 2021. We toured several bars and nightclubs on Capitol Hill late last night, well after my normal bedtime, to demonstrate concern about the mailed letter threats against gay bars and to reinforce the city's commitment to safe nightlife and entertainment businesses. Cuff was known as a Levi's and Leather bar with a bit of an edge. This photo was taken mid-way through our walking tour.
